County approves gas tax ordinance
Holmes County Board of County Commissioners approved the ordinance extending the county gas tax for another seven years after a public hearing held during the meeting of June 24. "There's limits on what we can tax and gas is one that we can," said County Attorney Jeff Goodman.

Sewer, water rates to increase
City of Bonifay held the first reading of Ordinance 389 during the July 29 meeting, to raise the water and sewer rates effective as of Oct. 1, 2014 and to raise by three percent every year for three years when the city will revisit the rates.
